Sting Radio is the student radio station of The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College. On Aug. 24, 2009, the Student Media Department launched the Internet-based radio station with Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock.” The station’s team is composed of students serving in the positions of station manager, advertising sales manager, news and information director and music director. Volunteer students, faculty and staff of the university serve as DJs and VJs. The station is located in Room 1.16 of UTB/TSC’s Student Union.
Listeners can expect to find live shows each full semester during regular office hours and pre-programmed playlists during the evenings and weekends. Students are encouraged to request songs during live shows at 882-7625 (UTB-ROCK) and to make suggestions on our programming by sending an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Sports fans can see live Web-streams of some of the university’s sports teams’ home games. Live streams also give audiences access to other events on campus.
